New Yorker
An exploration and reinterpretation of the story telling mechanisms present in classic illustrated New Yorker covers. I chose to illustrate a cover focused on the student debt crisis, a cultural touchstone that has been highlighted as a powerful force in my generation’s transition from childhood to adulthood. The paper cutout effect is meant to harken back to a more innocent scholastic time, while also representing the shaky and uncertain future many graduates must navigate.
